unlock-iphone-4-to-release-after-ios

Just a quick little heads-up, MuscleNerd has just confirmed on his twitter that the dev-team will hold iPhone 4 basebands unlock until iOS 4.2.5 or iOS 4.3 official release which last.

Official iPhone unlock statement: no unlock will be released until after 4.2.5 or official 4.3 (whichever is last) is out
I know well that this news may be frustrating for most of you who are waiting eagrly for the unlock, but to be fair enough, it makes sense that they hold it as the release of iOS 4.3 for public looks imminent. Stay tuned

iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G Discontinued as of iOS 4.3 !

Apple just released iOS 4.3 beta 1 to developers, and it looks like iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2G have been discontinued as of iOS 4.3. Both of the devices are not listed anymore on the iOS developer website. This indicates that the latest iOS build for iPhone 3G and iPod touch may be iOS 4.2.1.

iOS 4.3 Beta Available for Download !

Apple has just pushed iOS 4.3 beta in the iOS Dev Center to developers. iOS 4.3 beta is available for both mobile devices and the Apple TV. Now we'll see what's new iOS 4.3? Personal hot spot feature?

To get this beta, you have to be enrolled in the iOS Dev Center program, you can get iOS 4.3 beta from here. We'll update the post as soon as we got information! Stay tuned!

iOS 4.3 support Personal Hotspot Feature (Confirmed)

New iOS 4.3 will be able to connect up to five devices over Wi-Fi to the iPhone’s cellular data connection. Their source notifies that iOS 4.3 version 8F5148b will be launched in March
Yesterday was Verizon iPhone’s day and we saw the personal hotspot feature that debuted on the Verizon iPhone yesterday in iOS 4.2.5.
Well, a source of BGR has told them that this feature’ll be making its way to all iPhones in iOS 4.3.

According to our source, the personal hotspot feature that debuted on the Verizon iPhone yesterday will, in fact, be making its way to all iPhones in iOS 4.3. We’re sure there will need to be carrier support for this feature, and for AT&T users it is entirely possible we might not see this right away.
According to the report, you’ll be able to connect up to five devices over Wi-Fi to the iPhone’s cellular data connection. Their source notifies that iOS 4.3 version 8F5148b will be launched in March with baseband 04.08.00. New baseband? Should the unlock be delayed until iOS 4.3 launch? Or released before 16th January? Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 before iOS 4.3 / 4.2.5 Official Release [ Comex's Untethered Jailbreak Soon]

Jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 before iOS 4.3 / 4.2.5 Official Release that is what Comex said for his Untethered Jailbreak Soon it`s good news, Andrea Cervone over iPhoneItalia was able to contact with Comex (the hacker behind JailbreakMe and Spirit), he asked him whether he will preserve his untethered jailbreak until Verizon releases iPhone 4 which will be powered by iOS 4.2.5 ? Let's see how Comex replied him

Andrea Cervone asking: So, if Apple releases iOS 4.2.5 on 10 February, you’ll preserver your new tool and exploits for that firmware? Maybe this will be a good move. Dev Team and Chronic Dev are releasing their tools for iOS 4.2.1, your can be saved for the future too.

Comex replying:
I hadn’t seen that.
Interesting.. but a month’s
A long time to wait.
So, it's now clear that Comex has moved back about his last ETA (estimate to arrival) for his untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 as it was related to iOS 4.3 (or iOS 4.2.5) official release. Anyway let's wait and see. Stay tunes

Unlock iOS 4.2.1 Ultrasn0w Unlock

The iPhone Dev Team released ultrasn0w 1.2 which brings carrier unlock for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G on iOS 4.2.1 or iOS 4.1.
From the iPhone Dev Team Blog:

Today we’re pleased to announce our free carrier unlock for iPhone3G/3GS owners with a baseband later than 05.13.04.  The unlock for that baseband exploited the AT+XAPP command, thanks to a crash initially discovered by @sherif_hashim (@Oranav also found this crash).  So what hole are we exploiting today, since Apple closed that AT+XAPP hole?  Well, we’re exploiting the exact same hole!
It turns out that the very first iPad firmware 3.2.2 has baseband version 06.15.00 still vulnerable to AT+XAPP.  The iPad baseband is built for the exact same baseband chip as the iPhone3G/3GS — they’re fully compatible! Some of us have been running 06.15 for weeks now on our iPhones in preparation for this release.
Since 06.15 is a higher version than 05.14 or 05.15 (where AT+XAPP is gone), anyone stuck at those versions can simply upgrade to 06.15 to unlock again!  Luckily for us, Apple *still* provides the iPad FW 3.2.2 with this vulnerable baseband right from their own servers. (Grab it now, before they take it down!)
We’ve been busy updating both PwnageTool and redsn0w to make the baseband update as seamless as possible.

  1. First up is “PwnageTool 4.1.3 Unlock Edition”.  It has a special dialog box which will ask you if you want to update to the iPad baseband.  You must already have the iPad 3.2.2 IPSW on your computer (see the above link)….so just point PwnageTool at it (or let it find it on its own if you’re in “simple” mode).
  2. Directly after PwnageTool 4.1.3 is available, the official ultrasn0w repo http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com will be updated with ultrasn0w 1.2, which covers iPhone 4 baseband 01.59.00 and iPhone 3G/3GS basebands 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 and now 06.15.00.
  3. Finally, we’ll release an update to redsn0w today for those without Macs and can’t run PwnageTool.  The new redsn0w will give you the option to update your baseband to 06.15 too.
WARNING — YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK!  PLEASE UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES OF UPDATING TO 06.15.
  1. There is no way to come back down from 06.15, and there’s no hiding the baseband version from Apple.  You’ll be voiding your warranty in a very obvious way.
  2. If some future baseband comes out with a critical fix, you won’t be able to update to it if it remains down in the 05.xx sequence (then again, you wouldn’t update to it if you wanted to keep your unlock anyway).
  3. Starting with FW 4.2.1 if you have 06.15 on your iPhone you won’t ever be able to restore to stock firmware (it will fail).  You’ll need to only restore to custom IPSWs (then again, if you’re unlocker you should already be doing that).
Certainly don’t update to 06.15 if you don’t need to!  Only do this if you need the unlock and you’re stuck on 05.14 or 05.15, and you’re willing to assume the above risks.
This PwnageTool also contains a 4.2.1 bundle for iPhone3G owners…for all else, it’s still only 4.1.  If you have an iPhone3GS with an old bootrom, the new redsn0w will handle 4.2.1 for you (in fact it covers 4.2.1 for all devices, even though some of them are still tethered at 4.2.1 until @comex can work some untethering magic).  iPhone3GS users with old bootroms who want to go to 4.2.1 should not use this PwnageTool! Update to stock 4.2.1 first, then use the upcoming redsn0w to update your baseband.

iOS 4.3 to Arrive by January 19th ?

As noted by MacRumors that Forbes has confirmed with a trusted source that the publication of "The Daily" will be formally announced on January 19th. The Daily will be a new journal specifically for iPad only with Apple support.

Mark your calendars, media nerds. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011 is the day it all changes. Maybe.

That's the planned launch date for The Daily, the iPad-only publication News Corp. has been feverishly developing. The company has yet to say boo about it, and a spokesman declined to comment when I asked him about the launch date, which comes via a News Corp. insider.
It's now expected that Apple will release iOS 4.3 with the arrival of this electronic journal "The Daily", as Apple has been said to be supporting The Daily with "recurring subscription payments" for iTunes accounts, this famous feature will only exist on the upcoming iOS 4.3. Anyway, let's wait and see. [via iSpazio]
